Mi preferencia es LNER debido a sus trenes más frecuentes y excelentes instalaciones a bordo. Sin embargo, eso no significa que las otras opciones sean malas.

Resumen de la Ruta
LNER y Lumo salen de la estación King's Cross de Londres y viajan por la línea principal de la costa este. Avanti opera desde la estación de Euston en Londres y por la línea principal de la costa oeste. Todos llegan a la estación Waverley de Edimburgo.
Lumo tiene los tiempos de viaje más rápidos de Londres a Edimburgo con 4 horas y 17 minutos, seguido por LNER, que tarda 4 horas y 20 minutos. Experiencia de Transporte
Reservar en Omio fue fácil. Simplemente elegí mi hora y clase de viaje, y en cuestión de momentos de hacer la reserva, ¡mi billete estaba listo para usar!
Aunque LNER y Lumo operan trenes similares construidos por Hitachi, la experiencia a bordo es bastante diferente, como detallo a continuación.
Lumo
Lumo opera con un modelo de bajo costo (¡piensa en Ryanair sobre rieles!). Con solo cinco servicios al día, la elección es limitada. Hay límites estrictos de equipaje (solo una maleta pequeña y una mediana). No se permiten artículos voluminosos ni bicicletas.
Lumo solo ofrece asientos de clase estándar, con 25 filas por vagón y solo dos mesas, por lo que el espacio para las piernas es limitado y los vagones pueden sentirse abarrotados.
LNER
Los trenes de LNER de Londres a Edimburgo salen cada 30 minutos, con 26 servicios al día.
LNER ofrece una experiencia de viaje más agradable, con un máximo de 23 filas de asientos y ocho mesas por vagón. El operador estatal ofrece una franquicia de equipaje más generosa (incluyendo bicicletas), así como la opción de actualizar a Primera Clase.

Después de revisar los tableros de salida para mi plataforma, pasé por las barreras automáticas de boletos y procedí a abordar mi tren.
En Lumo, todos los boletos vienen con una reserva de asiento. Los trenes siempre están muy llenos, así que asegúrate de sentarte en tu asiento asignado. Con LNER, los trenes fuera de hora punta son menos concurridos. Si tienes un asiento asignado, te recomiendo que te sientes allí. De lo contrario, puedes sentarte en cualquier asiento no reservado (indicado por una luz verde sobre cada asiento).

Comida y Bebidas a Bordo
Lumo: Ofrece un servicio de carrito en el asiento que vende sándwiches, bocadillos como galletas y papas fritas, y bebidas como café, té y refrescos.
- LNER: Tiene una tienda a bordo que puedes visitar a tu antojo. Al escanear un código QR, puedes pedir comidas calientes, bocadillos y bebidas como café y vino y recibirlas en tu asiento. Probé el Curry Nanster (un wrap de naan relleno de curry) con una copa de vino blanco.
Tanto Lumo como LNER tienen Wi-Fi a bordo, aunque es bastante lento y tiene cobertura irregular. Es adecuado para navegar en general y transmitir música, pero puede que tengas dificultades para transmitir video. ¡Te recomiendo que descargues algo de contenido antes de salir!

Omio hizo que reservar mis boletos de tren de Londres a Edimburgo fuera muy fácil. Solo elegí mi hora de salida y cuán flexible quería que fuera mi boleto, y luego mi boleto estaba listo para usar.
